Keck Dog Art Booth at McCormick Place

I want to say a BIG thank you to everyone who stopped by to support and purchase my art last weekend at McCormick place in Chicago!! I am honestly having just the best time with this series of works. For those that follow my work you will know this is series of works is quite out of the ‘norm’ for me but I’m having a blast with them. I’ve been receiving such wonderful feedback and meeting the most amazing dog lovers from all over the world – so huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been supporting this new series and sending such fabulous emails & pics of their babies!! Many of my works in this series have also been picked up by one of my publishers so these little guys will be making their way to a poster line in stores throughout the U.S. in the near future! Please continue to send in your pics for the cutest pooch contest as I am always on the lookout for the CUTEST babies for more breeds to be added!

From the Mailbag -Dog Art in Collector’s Home

hi boys and girls!!! We just finished up a dog art show which I will show pics of in my dog art blog tomorrow. Today I wanted to share with you all a picture of a limited edition print of my moosey (aka Dirty Paw Moo) as it is hanging in one of my collector’s homes. Hope is one of the collectors I have been fortunate to meet through my art. Hope is another GSD lover who has been gracious enough to email me about my art and also send me a pic of her giclee print as it hangs in her home. Hope is the mom to -Harper, Knutschka, and Sid!! I am so very honored today to blog about one of my latest dog pop art collages. I feel blessed to have been offered the unique opportunity to create an original collage of the one-and-only, world renowned, DIVA -Zelda!! If you are a dog lover the chances are great you already know who Zelda is. For those of you who may not know her, Zelda is an English Bulldog who’s owner, Carol Gardner, made her famous when she started combining Zelda’s comical photographs with her own wit and wisdom and putting the two on greeting cards. hi everyone!! sorry about being MIA there for a few days… still catching up with all the time off from the holidays. i’ve been non-stop with my dog collages and still having a BLAST!! one of my most recently completed dog art collages is of a fiesty little Westie named Paris. the original and prints will be listed through my store within the next couple of days or if u do not want to wait feel free to phone into my gallery at 1-888-969-KECK (5325).

One of my girlfriends Nancy posted a story on her facebook page today that I wanted to share here in my blog. I LOVE this story.. this event and since all of you who find your way here are dog lovers too then I am sure you will appreciate this. On Jan 24th 300 shelters all across the USA are participating in an event called CHANGE A PET’S LIFE DAY!!

A company called Hills Pet Nutrition that organized this event is going to be paying the adoption fees for the first 10 adoptions in each of the participating shelters! This event is being held to help encourage people to consider adopting a pet from a shelter as opposed to buying from breeders. This event will help raise awareness to all the millions of animals who are filling the shelters and are in such desperate need of loving forever homes. Adoption fees can be expensive, depending on the shelter up to $300, so for families who may have a loving home but do not necessarily have the funds to adopt this event really gives a great opportunity to help out both loving families who may not have necessary adoption fees as well as helping these great animals who really are in dire need of loving homes.

I SURVIVED Freezin for A GREYT Reason!!

Hi everyone!!! I hope you all had a great holiday vacation with your friends and family. Things have just settled down here and I just got back to work in the gallery and studio.

I wanted to update and say a BIG, HUGE THANK YOU to all of my friends, family, and companies that sponsored my jump into Lake Michigan on New Years Day for FREEZIN FOR A REASON!!

It was honestly the BEST TIME! I am not quite sure what our total that we brought in together but we should have those totals soon! Last year AmericanGreyhound.org had 6 jumpers for their first year, they increased that number to 17 this year – only their second year to jump! I was prepared for the absolute WORST and was pleasantly surprised that it just was not near as bad as I imagined. The worst part was definitely coming out of the water, making your way back to your towels and then trying to get dressed.

My hubby and my friend Ryan took plenty of pics and my girlfriend Janelle and hubby also helped with the camcorder so we could make a video out of it. I’ve posted the pics and the video and the links to them are below..

Mr. Bones was rescued from an amazing greyhound rescue organization – Amercian Greyhound… without them our little angel Stoney would not be in our lives today so we are forever grateful for all their amazing organization of volunteers do for the greyts and for their owners that love them!

DOG ART: German Shepherd Dog Pop Art Collage

below is a pic of my baby boy Moose who was the inspiration for the start of my new pop art dog collage series. He was the first in this series and he is a limited edition of 200 in two sizes of 16″ x 20″ and 8″ x 10″. I have helped to raise funds for PETA in the past with my artwork and I was approached by PETA to see if I had any art I could donate and in particular they were looking for art that would be animal related. That was the perfect ‘kick in the butt’ I needed to finally complete a collage of my boy Moose that I had started months prior. So I finished up my collage and the first 25 of the size 16″ x 20″ were donated to PETA. Next to follow was of course our angel baby Stoney (our greyhound).

Freezin For A Reason

On Jan. 1st (new years day) 2009 I will be jumping in Lake Michigan with some of the volunteers of AmericanGreyhound.org. The event is called ‘FREEZIN FOR A REASON’. If you know what Chicago weather is like in the winter then you will fully understand the title of the event.

I am looking for individuals and companies who will pledge money to see me jump into Lake Michigan for this event. All of the money is donated to AmericanGreyhound.org. This is American Greyhounds 2nd annual polar bear swim! Last years swim included 6 polar bears and American Greyhound raised over $1600 to help with their rescue efforts. American Greyhound is hoping to eclipse those numbers(both #’s of swimmers and funds). We will be jumping in Lake Michigan at 8:00 AM New Years morning, at North Avenue Beach.

If you are able to pledge money to me for FREEZIN FOR A REASON please use the information below to send in your pledges. This is a really GREYT cause!! AmericanGreyhound.org has now saved the lives of over 1,000 greyhounds who would have otherwise suffered a horrible fate.
